SOC 2
SOC 2 is an auditing framework developed by the AICPA that evaluates how a service organization manages customer data across five trust service criteria. To request our SOC 2 report, contact us at security@meshintex.com.
Overview
SOC 2, or System and Organization Controls 2, is a framework established by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). It defines criteria for managing customer data based on five trust service criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. Unlike SOC 1, which focuses on financial reporting controls, SOC 2 is specifically designed for technology and cloud service providers that store, process, or transmit customer data.
A SOC 2 audit is conducted by an independent third-party auditor and results in a report that describes the service organization's controls and whether those controls meet the applicable trust service criteria. There are two types of SOC 2 reports: Type I assesses the design of controls at a point in time, while Type II assesses both design and operating effectiveness over a defined period — typically six to twelve months.
Trust Service Criteria
Security
The system is protected against unauthorized access, both logical and physical. This is the only criterion required for all SOC 2 reports and covers controls such as firewalls, intrusion detection, and multi-factor authentication.
Availability
The system is available for operation and use as committed. Controls address performance monitoring, disaster recovery, and incident response to ensure uptime obligations are met.
Processing Integrity
System processing is complete, valid, accurate, timely, and authorized. Controls ensure that data is processed correctly and that errors are identified and corrected in a timely manner.
Confidentiality
Information designated as confidential is protected as committed. Controls include encryption, access restrictions, and disposal procedures for confidential data.
Privacy
Personal information is collected, used, retained, disclosed, and disposed of in accordance with the entity's privacy notice and the AICPA's Generally Accepted Privacy Principles (GAPP).
